Groenewald takes Series lead after strong Taupō performance
Jack Groenewald has taken the lead in the North Island Formula Ford Series after a standout performance at Round Two at Taupō Motorsport Park, finishing second overall across the weekend.
Groenewald showed his intent early by securing pole position in qualifying, setting the pace among a highly competitive field. Across the three races, he delivered a string of consistent front-running results — 2nd in Race 1, 3rd in Race 2, and 2nd in Race 3 — earning enough points to move to the top of the series standings.
“It was a really strong weekend,” said Groenewald. “We had great speed from the start and managed to stay at the front throughout. The racing was tight, but we kept it clean and came away with the points we needed to take the lead.”
Now in his second season of Formula Ford, Groenewald has established himself as one of the front-runners in the North Island Series, combining pace with consistency.
“We’ve made good progress as a team,” he added. “The goal now is to keep building on this form and fight for wins every weekend.”
The North Island Formula Ford Series continues at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon, where Groenewald will look to extend his points lead and strengthen his bid for the 2025 North Island title.
